Child Dental Benefit Schedule
Bulk billed dental* for children aged 2-17 years old!
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a new Medicare Initiative which now allows eligible children between the ages of 2 and 17 years, access to basic dental services. Services include:
- Teeth cleaning
- Root canal treatment
- X-rays
- Fissure sealing
- Fillings
- Extractions
- The CDBS will not cover any orthodontic work or cosmetic dentistry
Each child can access up to $1,000 over two consecutive years for the above services, if they are eligible under the Family Tax Benefit Part A, eligible for Medicare or receive one of the below Australian Government payments:
- Disability Support Pension
- Parenting Payment
- Special Benefit

If your entire $1000 is not used by the end of the two years, it will not be able to be carried forward for future use. To check whether your child is eligible and also your account balance amount of the $1000, you can use your Medicare online account or call Medicare directly.

1. How do I know if my child(ren) are eligible for CDB Schedule?
A child's eligibility for CDB Schedule is assessed at the beginning of each year and lasts the whole calendar year. A child will be eligible if they are aged 2-17 years and are either part of a family receiving Family Tax Benefit - Part A or receive certain Australian Government Payments. 2. When is eligibility determined?
Eligibility is determined each calendar year
3. How will I be notified?
Families or teenagers will be notified of eligibility by letter, starting in early 2014
4. If I don’t use all the $1,000 in the first year of eligibility, can I access it in the second year?
If you are found eligible for the second year, then you will able to utilise any remaining balance
5. How often can I access CDB Schedule services? (or is my child entitled to multiple services in a calendar year?)
You can access CDB Schedule as many times as necessary throughout the calendar year - up to $1000. However, some services have restrictions on how many times or when they can be provided. Your dentist will be able to advice you on the services required for your treatment.

If you're not eligible for the CDB Schedule and fall outside the criteria of this scheme, Dentalini is pleased to offer you a 5% discount* for all children aged 2-17 years old for the following services:
- Teeth cleaning
- Root canal treatment
- X-rays
- Fissure sealing
- Fillings
- Extractions
- The discount will not cover any orthodontic work or cosmetic dentistry
This discount applies to private health fund patients as well. Private health fund patients will be required to pay the gap and will receive an additional 5% discount on the gap. Patients with no private health fund will receive 5% off the total cost.
